If you watched both games, you realize that the Zags seem to play up or down to the competition. To a thirteen seed, they barely squeaked through, and on Saturday they beat a much improved Ohio State team to move on to the sweet sixteen. In the west bracket, number nine Florida State beat number one seed Xavier as another March Madness shocker so the Zags play Florida State for a chance to move on to the Elite Eight. Another shocker: North Carolina lost to number seven seed Texas A&M by 21 points! So much for a rematch of last years Championship game. The Ohio State game was interesting, wasn’t it? Starting out with 15-0 first quarter lead and a 11 point half time lead to see it melt away to a 6 point deficit with 6 minutes to go. Hearts were beating fast at this point but the Bulldogs pulled it out with 28 points from the freshman, Norvell, and 25 points from Hachimura. Talk about calm under pressure! Go Zags!
Gentlemen, want to know the secret of surviving under pressure? Take it to Jesus. Listen to His words in Matthew 11:28. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light”. Jesus says for us to learn from Him. Why does Jesus want us to take our burdens to Him? Peter has the answer, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you”. IT’S BECAUSE HE CARES FOR US! I’m sure many of the basketball players in the tournament know Jesus as Lord and Savior and can cast all their cares on Him regardless of the outcome of the game. My prayer for you, men, is that you are able to do that with the anxieties of life which are much more important than a basketball game.
