The Process of Elimination

The NBA playoffs have finished round one and are moving into the Conference Semi’s. No real surprises in Round One but here’s the recap…

Toronto Raptors beat the Washington Wizards in 6 games
Boston Celtics beat the Milwaukee Bucks in 7 games
Philadelphia 76ers beat the Miami Heat in 5 games
Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Indiana Pacers in 7 games

Houston Rockets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in 5 games
Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs in 5 games
New Orleans Pelicans beat the Portland Trailblazers in 4 games
Utah Jazz beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in 6 games

The conference match ups are:

EAST: Toronto vs. Cleveland; Boston vs. Philadelphia
WEST: Houston vs. Utah; Golden State vs. New Orleans

The process of elimination has reduced the teams from 16 to eight. Not sure who you are going to root for but how can you not favor a team with the name Pelicans? Hope you are enjoying the playoffs as elimination will continue until one team is left in the West and one team in the East. Odds are it will be Golden State and Cleveland but you never know.

Thankfully, the process of elimination never happens in God’s kingdom. Once you are a Christian you can never lose your salvation. That’s a promise from God’s word that you can depend upon. Meditate on these words penned by the Apostle John and inspired by God, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” (John 10:27-29) These are the very words of Jesus!

So take heart, my brothers. Once you have accepted Christ and are a born again Christian, NOTHING can separate you from the Father. Be comforted by the Apostle Paul’s words, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

While the rest of the NBA teams have to face the uncertainty of being eliminated, we as Christians, never need to worry about that. We are secure in our salvation! Take a minute to praise God for His gift of salvation!
